■ Considerations of SDGs at the exhibit

TradeWaltz Inc., which strives to contribute to SDGs such as the optimization of sea trade and reduction of carbon through “complete digitalization of trading.” We had two things in mind when joining the exhibition.

1) Zero distribution of paper documents

We live in a time when it is common, for both B2C and B2B products, to jump on the internet and search, compare, see reviews and comments, then think about buying a product. It is said that you are already known at the first point of direct contact. That is why, like this expo, we will not distribute printed material.

2) Include our thoughts towards the SDGs Life Below Water into our uniforms

As part of our uniform, we will have twisted scarfs, which were inspiration for the TradeWaltz Inc. logo.

These scarfs are made by a small fisheries company, Ozuka Suisan, located in Kagoshima, Japan, that we met last year. They use sea urchin to dye the color into the scarfs as part of their activity to protect the ecosystem of the ocean.(*1) We will to help them with exporting the scarfs in the future.

How do sea urchin dyed scarfs help protect the ecosystem of the ocean?

Recently, the number of sea urchin in the Kyushu Region has increased too much. They have moved in and eaten all of the seaweed forests which has highly contributed to the environmental problem known as sea desertification. As a result, the number of seaweed beds has decreased and direct sunlight (ultraviolet rays) now directly hits the sea floor causing the water temperature to rise. This in turn accelerates global warming and the destruction of the ocean’s ecosystem. To counter this problem, the sea urchin populations is now being controlled. One way to utilize the removed urchins is to use their shells as a dye for things such as these scarfs.

SDGs efforts receive praise from overseas.

The inclusion of SDGs in these scarfs has gotten attention from outside Japan. Recently, the Pope sent a letter of gratitude after receiving one of the scarfs.

Moving forward, TradeWaltz Inc. will continue to support SDGs related products of regional SMEs looking to enter the international market.

【Comment from people involved】

TradeWaltz Inc. Managing Director and Head of CEO’s Office: Satoru Someya

As we move towards a world of online exhibitions, we thought the meaning deeper when we are  approached by a shareholder to join an in-person exhibition, so we thought about what we really wanted to say while joining. We wanted to make the exhibit a place to convey our thoughts of “How do we want to change the world” which includes warm feelings and emotions. This led to our participation, including our exhibit and presentation content, to be based on “Participate with as much consideration for the environment as possible.” While taking full consideration towards SDGs, we will not only give demonstrations and presentations, but also have executives from the company be on the floor talking directly to Expo guests.
