Press Release
TradeWaltz Inc.
TradeWaltz Inc., which operates the trading-related information-sharing platform known as “TradeWaltz,” is pleased to announce that it has been selected for the “Summer/Fall 2021 IoT Batch7” accelerator program hosted by Plug and Play Japan.
■ About Plug and Play Japan and its accelerator program
Plug and Play Japan was established in 2017 as the Japanese base of Plug and Play, one of the world’s top accelerators and venture capital firms.
They support co-creation between startups and major companies, aiming to build an innovation platform that connects major companies with domestic and international startups. This expands the possibilities from Japan to the world and from the world to Japan, and also produces many companies that will lead the era on a global scale.
Plug and Play Japan’s accelerator program connects corporate partners with domestic and international startups to create new innovations in nine areas (IoT, Fintech, Insurtech, Mobility, Brand & Retail, Health, Smart Cities, New Materials, and Energy). Through this program, startups will have a wide range of opportunities to collaborate with major companies.
Tradewaltz Inc. has been selected to participate in the IoT field accelerator program organized by Plug and Play Japan for the IoT demonstration planned with Kyocera Communication Systems Co. During the Summer/Fall 2021 Batch period, we will gather large companies that are willing to participate in the demonstration, with the aim of conducting the demonstration in the second half of FY2021.
■ What kind of demonstration will be done?
In the second half of 2021, KCCS will verify whether it is possible to check and link the location information of transported cargo from TradeWaltz to the location information platform “IoT Tracker” developed by KCCS, based on the IDs of IoT sensors attached to specific containers.
In a society where the COVID-19 pandemic continues and remote work is becoming more and more common, it is expected that it will become more and more difficult for people in Japan and overseas to check the progress of their contracts to see if things are actually being delivered on time or if there are any delays.
The IoT Tracker, a location information platform developed by KCCS, is currently being used to track the location of cargo using IoT sensors. If this data can be combined with TradeWaltz’s trade transaction information, we will be able to efficiently check the status of contract fulfillment, and in the future, we will be able to use smart contracts for settlements. From there, we will see the future of trade approaching automation, even if at a slow pace.

In this accelerator program, we are looking for shippers, logistics companies, warehouse operators, and shipping companies who can actually install IoT sensors on containers and cooperate in the demonstration in the first half of 2021.
